In countries where National Ethics Committees (NECs) do not exist, local institutional review boards should be encouraged to contribute to the formation of an NEC. Where neither an NEC nor local institutional review boards exist, EDCTP will search appropriate bodies or scientists in each country to initiate the formation of an NEC.

EDCTP supports coordination of activities in clinical trial ethics through the formation of a coordinating committee with representation from all role players.
