Call for experts: EDCTP Strategic Advisory Committee and EDCTP Interim Strategic Advisory Committee

EDCTP is calling on high level experts from across multiple fields and sectors to apply for membership of the Interim Strategic Advisory Committee (Interim SAC) and the Strategic Advisory Committee (SAC). SAC members shall serve in their personal capacity, representing a broad range of disciplines encompassing all aspects of clinical trials in poverty related and neglected diseases (PRNDs) in sub-Saharan Africa within the EDCTP mandate. Applications are requested before 26 April 2013 and 30 August 2013 respectively.

Interim Strategic Advisory Committee
The Interim SAC has been set up by the EDCTP General Assembly as the main advisory group to EDCTP during its transition from EDCTP1 to EDCTP2. The Interim SAC provides strategic and scientific advice to the EDCTP General Assembly and the Executive Secretariat (SEC) as well as oversight of the scientific integrity of the EDCTP programme.

The Interim SAC will assist the SEC in ensuring that the operational business plan for the EDCTP2 programme is developed in the context of global activities, taking into account the dynamic state of product development pipelines, African and European participating member states national plans, needs and priorities.

To complement the current Interim SAC membership experts are being sought in following research fields:
• Malaria (two members required)
• Tuberculosis (two members required)
• NIDs (two members required).

The Interim SAC will comprise up to 12 members (the Chair, two Vice-Chairs and up to nine ordinary members) with a term of appointment until 31 December 2013.

Strategic Advisory Committee
The SAC is the principal advisory group to EDCTP, providing strategic and scientific advice to the EDCTP General Assembly and the Executive Secretariat, as well as oversight of the scientific integrity of the EDCTP programme.

The SAC will assist the Executive Secretariat in ensuring that the operational business plan for the second EDCTP programme is developed in the context of global activities, while taking into account the dynamic state of product development pipelines, African and European participating member states national plans, needs and priorities.

The SAC will comprise up to 12 members (the Chair, two Vice-Chairs and up to nine ordinary members).
