Simon Belcher joined EDCTP in early 2004. He is a member of the Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW), and qualified with Price Waterhouse Coopers in Birmingham after graduating in Banking and international finance from City University Business School London. He has extensive experience in living and working in sub-Saharan Africa having previously been the Finance Manager of the Medical Research Council in The Gambia and prior to that, Chief Accountant at Kinyara Sugar in Uganda. He heads up the whole of the finance and administrative functions of EDCTP and acts as the senior management of the organisation, accountable to the General Assembly.
