This project aims to establish the Western Kenya Research and Ethics Committee to support development of internationally accepted standards for ethics review. The committee will review research proposals on HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria among other tropical diseases. It aims at promoting integration of research activities in Western Kenya and to foster strong partnerships with and between scientists in Kenya as well as similar international institutions. In addition, Western Kenya Research Ethics Committee seeks to enhance the capacity for carrying out community based social and clinical activities in region.
