FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions



1. When and where is the EDCTP 3rd Forum taking place?

The Third Annual EDCTP Forum will be held at “The Swedish Society of Medicine” (www.svls.se) in Stockholm, Sweden from 09 to 11 October 2006.


2. What are the themes?
The theme of the forum is “Partnership and African Leadership: Challenges and Opportunities” and will focus on the following sub-themes:

    - Regulatory and ethical issues in clinical trials.
    - Capacity building and networking in conducting clinical trials.
    - Experiences in conducting clinical trials.

3. What are the aims of the EDCTP 3rd Forum?
The purpose of the forum is to share experiences on EDCTP projects and related issues. This will be achieved through various presentations including keynote addresses, electronic posters and round table discussions followed by recommendations at the end of the forum.

4. How can I register to participate at the event?
You must submit an online registration to participate the event. Please click here to go to the Registration Form and submit your application.

5. Who can apply to participate at the event?
Anyone that is interested in the subjects that will be discussed in the event can apply to participate.

6. What will be the registration fees and how can I pay for them?
The registration fee is € 200 for the three days of Forum. There is also a fee of € 100 for daily registration, if the participant does not wish to attend all days of event. The payment will be made by bank transfer and the participant which the application was accepted will be contactd by e-mail with the details for the payment.

7. How can I send an application for a bursary?
You can send your application for a bursary in the Registration Form. Please also have a look in the Registration page to find out if you can apply for a bursary.

8. How will the application for bursary be judged?
Applications for bursaries will only be accepted if the participant is an African living in an African country and must submit a pragster and CV. The bursaries will be selected based on CV and quality of their pragster by the Programme Committee.

9. I have submitted an application to EDCTP 3rd Forum and would like to know when I will be contacted about the final acceptance and the details for presentation.
All the applications submitted through the Registration Form will be reviewed by the Programme Committee and the authors will be notified by 15 August 2006 if they abstract has been accepted as well the details on how to procedure the presentation.

10. What is the procedure for me to get a visa to participate at the event in Stockholm?
If you are a citizen of one of the Schengen countries (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Sweden), all you need is an ID. Please visit the General Information section on the link Visa to see a list of countries that need visas, as well more information of the procedure to get one.

11. Will transportation be provided between airport-hotels and the venue? Is there a fee?
No. Please see the Travel Information page to know more about transport in Sweden.

12. Will the organization make the travel and hotel arrangements for all the participants?
The Organising Committee will only be responsible for the arrangements of the Constituencies, Secretariat, Keynote speakers and bursary applicants’ arrangements. You may find more information in the travel and hotel sections.
