23 June 2006 - Deadline extended for pragster submissions

The Programme Committee has allowed an extra two weeks for the submission of pragsters, meaning that the new deadline is now the 21st of July. This deadline will not be extended again, please make sure that all submissions are received by EDCTP before this date, or they will not be eligible for judging.
 

14 March 2006 - Call for pragster

The Third EDCTP Annual Forum, 9-11 October 2006, Stockholm

The Third EDCTP Annual Forum will be held from 9 to11 October 2006 in ‘the Swedish Society for Medicine’, Stockholm, Sweden, The theme of the forum is ‘Partnership and African Leadership: Challenges and Opportunities.’  This will be on the three main poverty-related diseases namely HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis and will focus on the following sub-themes:

    1. Regulatory and ethical issues in clinical trials
    2. Capacity building and networking in conducting clinical trials
    3. Experiences in conducting clinical trials

Purpose

The forum with main purpose of sharing experiences on EDCTP projects and related issues will be restricted to 200 participants.

Format

The forum format will include invited keynote addresses, oral plenary presentations, round-table discussions and short slide-presentations (pragsters). The forum language is English.

Short slide-presentation

The short-slide presentations with a similar principle to poster presentations (poster abstract presentation, pragster) will be in the form of six condensed summary slides prepared using MS PowerPoint. These will be presented and discussed at allotted times at various computer stations during coffee and lunch breaks throughout the forum.

Call for oral presentations and pragsters

Invitation is made calling for presentations. Presenters are invited to submit a maximum of five slides in the form MS PowerPoint summarising their presentations. The first slide shall include title, authors (with the name of the presenting author underlined) and affiliations. The following slides should contain objectives, methods, results, discussion, conclusion and acknowledgements. The presenter should indicate preference for either oral plenary or short slide-presentation (pragster). All presentations not selected for plenary or other oral sessions will be presented at site as short slide-presentations. These presentations will be available at the EDCTP homepage during and after the Forum. All presentations must be submitted electronically by 30 June 2006.

Registration

Due to the limitation in number, intending participants are advised to register early through the Internet. A registration fee of €200 will be required for participants from non-developing countries. The registration fee will cover forum materials, coffees and lunches.

Bursary

A bursary of €3000 each will be available for a limited number of registered individuals from developing countries with preference given to those who have submitted presentations. Application for a bursary is included in the registration form.
