The Programme Committee invites submission of abstracts, which will only be accepted if they are with electronic short slide presentations (electronic posters). The abstracts will be based on the three sub-themes:

  1.   On-going clinical trials in Africa
  2.   Networks in Africa
  3.   Challenges in building capacities in Africa
    a.  Regulatory and ethics environment
    b.  Networks and Nodes of excellence

Visual presentations

The visual presentation with electronic short slide presentations will be presented to the attendees of the conference on computer terminals during coffee and lunch breaks. Selected presentations may be made into posters by the organizers but the presenters will be notified if this is the case.

Please note: applicants for visual presentations will have no space for speaking.

In addition, registered attendees will receive a memory stick that will contain all electronic presentations.

The deadline to submit abstracts is 25th May 2007 and they must be submitted electronically. No abstracts will be accepted after this date.
Abstracts will be reviewed by the Programme Committee that reserves the right to accept and allocate abstracts for visual presentations. Authors will be notified by 13th June 2007 if their abstract has been accepted.

Guidelines for abstract submission

  • Abstract must be written in English and of 6 to 8 slides in form of MS PowerPoint presentations.
  • The title should be typed in bold, lower case.
  • Author name(s), institution(s), department(s) and country follows on the next line. Please note the name of the presenting author must be underlined.
  • The body of the text in sentence case, single spacing.
  • Special symbols, such as Greek Letters, should be spelled out (i.e. Alpha, beta).
  • The body of the text should succinctly describe the objectives of the study, the methods, results, discussion and conclusions, and future perspective .
  • Historical descriptions, lengthy discussion, tables, graphs, illustrations or figures should not be included in the abstract.
  • The presentations will be available at the EDCTP homepage after the Forum.
  • The method of submission is online. No faxed copies will be accepted.
