Vaccination

Travelers must seek personal advice on vaccinations and anti-malaria measures that are required beforeĀ  traveling to Burkina Faso. A general guideline is provided below:

Disease

Description

Tetanus-diphtheria

Revaccination recommended every 10 years

Hepatitis A

Recommended for all travelers

Hepatitis B

Vaccination is recommended for travelers who will be undertaking risky activities (rafting, motorcycling, tattoos etc.), for travelers who may have intimate contact with local residents, or for travelers who will do extensive and frequent traveling.

Malaria

Month 1 up to and including 12

Meningococcus

Recommended for all travellers

Polio

One-time booster recommended for any traveler who completed the childhood series but never had polio vaccine as an adult

Typhoid

Recommended for all travelers

Yellow Fever

Vaccination is legally required for all travelers

Rabies

Precautionary measures recommended for any travelers who will have direct contact with animals and may not have access to medical care

Measles, mumps, rubella (MMR)

Two doses recommended for all travelers born after 1956, if not previously given
