An effective AIDS vaccine could be the ultimate bullet to shatter the scourge that has ravaged humanity, especially in sub-Saharan Africa. However such a discovery has been very elusive for the last twenty years. Good Clinical Practice (GCP) provides globally applicable standards for the conduct of medical research on pharmaceutical products on human subjects, reminds Raffaella Ravinetto, Head of the Clinical Trials Unit, Institute of Tropical Medicine in Belgium.
