2012 was a very busy bridging period between the current and the coming EDCTP programme planned to start in January 2014 under Horizon 2020.

In 2012, the transition from the first to the second EDCTP programme (EDCTP2) became evident.

By the end of 2012, EDCTP has funded (contract signed) 241 projects to a total amount of €372.3 million of committed funding.
