Grants System Officer

The European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) is a non-profit organisation with a mission to accelerate the development of clinical interventions against poverty-related infectious diseases in Africa.

We are looking for a Grants System Officer for the office in The Hague, the Netherlands. The officer will be responsible for the management, maintenance and development of EDCTP’s online system for submission of applications and management of grants (EDCTPgrants).

Background
The European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) is a non-profit organisation with a European office in The Hague, The Netherlands and an African office in Cape Town, South Africa. EDCTP is a partnership between European and African countries to accelerate the development of new clinical interventions such as drugs, vaccines, microbicides and diagnostics against poverty-related diseases in Africa. The organisation supports clinical trials, capacity strengthening and networking in Africa and Europe. The EDCTP2 programme is supported under Horizon 2020, the European Union’s Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.

Grants System Officer
We are looking for a Grants System Officer to be based at the EDCTP office in The Hague. The officer will be a member of the Operations team (Calls and Grants) and report to the Operations Manager. The Grants System Officer will be responsible for the management, maintenance and development of EDCTP’s online system for submission of applications and management of grants (EDCTPgrants) which includes providing support to the users of the system (EDCTP staff members and external users).

Duties and responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the Grants System Officer include:

  • Providing guidance, training and support to EDCTP staff working with the EDCTPgrants system
  • Providing a helpdesk function for external users of the system (applicants, reviewers), as well as validating new users
  • Designing and creating web-based forms to produce reports and analyses of EDCTP grant-related activities
  • Coordinating efforts to streamline and optimise operations and workflows, including developing new approaches to collecting and managing grant data
  • Maintaining data quality, including managing data cleansing activities
  • Collecting and analysing requirements for system enhancements and working with available resources to plan, test and deploy updates to existing functionality
  • Liaising with the grants system supplier about contracts, system upgrades and service level agreements
  • Other duties as required.

Person specification

  • A degree or relevant professional qualifications in an IT-related field
  • Knowledge and experience of SQL and SSRS, programming and database management (e.g. ability to create scripts)
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including advanced Excel skills
  • Experience in working with online application systems
  • Able to work in a matrix structure with a range of individuals across the organisation, managing a range of tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Excellent attention to detail, with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Knowledge and experience of CC Grant tracker would be an advantage

Salary
EDCTP offers a competitive salary package commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Place of employment
The employee will be based at the EDCTP Secretariat in The Hague, Netherlands. Applicants must have a valid working permit for The Netherlands.
