EDCTP holds ‘trainer-of-trainers’ workshop on GCP-GCLP in Johannesburg, South Africa

14 June 2018

The EDCTP Africa Office organised a workshop on Good Clinical Practice/Good Clinical Laboratory Practice in Johannesburg, South Africa, from 12-14 June 2018. Participants of 26 EDCTP-funded projects – including from the four EDCTP-funded regional Networks of Excellence – from 15 African countries participated in the workshop.

The three-day workshop was targeted at mid-career researchers/scientists and research nurses who previously received training in GCP, GCLP and health research ethics and would benefit from the workshop to improve their skills and capability to become a trainer-of-trainers. The workshop was facilitated by the South African company CREDE (Clinical Research Education and Development).

The workshop is part of the activities of the EDCTP Work plan 2017 which makes provision for the organisation of up to three workshops in sub-Saharan Africa, focused on good clinical practice (GCP), good clinical laboratory practice (GCLP) and ethics to strengthen the capacity of sub-Saharan African researchers to conduct high-quality research.
