Today, High-Level Meeting on EDCTP2 ongoing in Dakar, Senegal
The second High-Level meeting on the second EDCTP programme (EDCTP2, 2014-2024) is taking place in Dakar, Senegal, today. The meeting is hosted by the Ministry of Health of Senegal, the European Commission and EDCTP. The objective of the meeting is to discuss ways of active and direct involvement of African partner countries in the EDCTP programme and governance. Ministers of several African countries are present.

The programme includes opening and keynote addresses which are followed by a discussion of ideas and suggestions to strengthen the commitment and involvement of the African countries participating in EDCTP.
The meeting follows on the high-level conference to consult African and international stakeholders on the second EDCTP programme in Cape Town, South Africa on 5 November 2012. Currently, the EDCTP2 programme is in the decision phase. The European Commission has submitted the second programme for co-decision by the European Parliament and the Council.
