SCEPRESSA project celebrates the graduation of fellows

In 2025, the SCEPRESSA project marked a major milestone with the graduation of seven fellows from four sub-Saharan African countries: Anne Nduta Miatu (Kenya), Maryln Atieno Ochieng (Kenya), Onesmus Muti Mutie (Kenya), Levi Cheptoyek (Uganda), Simon Deng Nyawela (South Sudan), Jean Louis Kananura (Rwanda), and MarthaClaire Kerubo Zammit (Kenya) were all awarded the Master of Science degree in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).
Two fellows, Anne Nduta Miatu and Maryln Atieno Ochieng, graduated during JKUAT’s 44th graduation ceremony on 27 June 2025, while the remaining five graduated during the 45th graduation ceremony on 5 December 2025.
This achievement marked a significant milestone for both the project and the fellows, whose dedication to academic excellence has now been rewarded. Over the course of three years, they completed coursework and conducted rigorous research, guided by mentors from SCEPRESSA partners institutions: JKUAT, Kamuzu University of Health Science (KUHEs), Tropical Institute of Community Health and Development (TICH) and the Ministry of Health (MoH).
The graduation of these fellows not only reflects their individual professional growth but also represents a meaningful contribution to strengthening research capacity in epidemiology across sub-Saharan Africa.
