EDCTP 2018 Prizes: Call for nominations

EDCTP opens the call for nominations for its 2018 Prizes today. The Prizes in four categories will be awarded at the Ninth EDCTP Forum which will take place in Lisbon, Portugal, from 17-21 September 2018. Nominations of candidates are invited before 28 February 2018, 17:00 CET.

Applications for a prize can be submitted in the following categories:

  • Scientific Leadership: Awarded to excellent world-class scientists in Africa up to 50 years of age working on HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria and neglected infectious diseases in the scope of the second EDCTP programme.
  • Outstanding Female Scientist: Awarded to excellent world-class female scientists in sub-Saharan Africa and working in the scope of the second EDCTP programme.
  • Outstanding Research Team: Awarded to outstanding research teams in Africa and Europe working on HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria and neglected infectious diseases in the scope of the second EDCTP programme.
  • Dr Pascoal Mocumbi Prize: This prize is in special recognition of the significant contribution made by Dr Pascoal Mocumbi, the first High Representative of the EDCTP. It is to be awarded to senior scientists, policy-makers or advocates for health and research (aged 51 years and above).

 

The EDCTP prizes recognise outstanding individuals and research teams from Africa and Europe who have made significant contributions to health research. In addition to their scientific excellence, the awardees will have made major contributions to the EDCTP objectives of strengthening clinical research capacity in Africa and supporting South-South and North-South networking.
