EDCTP Association as Coordinator of Global Health EDCTP3 projects
Global Health EDCTP3 publishes annual work programmes outlining the activities to be carried out each year, including calls for proposals. The annual calls reflect specific, current research needs for target diseases and research capacity development.
As part of the call for proposals, some actions will use lump sum funding. For these, applicants may opt to include the EDCTP Association as the coordinator of the application.
What is lump sum funding?
The main objective of lump sum funding is to reduce the administrative burden and financial errors associated with reporting actual costs.
Lump sums are defined up-front and fixed in the grant agreement. They are paid upon completion of the activities in work packages.
Beneficiaries are not required to submit periodic financial reports and, therefore, do not need to maintain financial records and supporting documents for the action. Audits are limited to verifying the proper (technical) implementation of the action and compliance with the non-financial obligations of the grant agreement.
Beneficiaries must, however, continue to comply with national accounting and reporting requirements.
Why opt to include the Association as the coordinator of your project?
As coordinator, the EDCTP Association can provide technical support in preparing the proposal, particularly given the lump sum nature of the Grant Agreement. The Association will also facilitate communication between the consortium and Global Health EDCTP3, distribute payments to beneficiaries without delay, submit required reports, and ensure effective coordination of funded networks with the Scientific Project Leader.
The EDCTP Association must not be counted as one of the three independent legal entities required to ensure the eligibility of the consortium composition, as requested in the Call conditions, “Specific conditions to Global Health EDCTP3 JU – B. Consortium composition”.
