Michelle Nderu

Michelle Nderu holds an MSc in Medicine from the University of Cape Town. She is a molecular biologist by training with experience in characterizing and profiling Hepatitis B genotypes in Cape Town South Africa and investigating proteins that can be used to alleviate the progression of Alzheimer’s disease. She worked in the biotechnology industry for several years as a research and development scientist, engineering enzymes for use in different life science applications. She has several real-time PCR and next-generation sequencing products on the global market. Thereafter, she joined the South African Medical Research Council taking up the position of research coordinator within the Research Management Division. Michele Nderu is a Certified Professional Natural Scientist (Pr. Sci. Nat.) with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP).
