The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Republic of Uganda in conjunction with the East, Central and Southern Africa (ECSA) Health Community Secretariat will host the host the 60th Health Ministers’ Conference in Kampala, Uganda, from 16th to 18th February 2015, under the theme:

ECSA Health Community at 40: Strengthening

Regional Cooperation for Better Health Outcomes

The ECSA Health Community has been in existence for 40 years, whose mandate in the region has been to promote regional cooperation in health among member states. The Health Ministers’ Conference will bring together Health Ministers and other senior officials from the Ministries of Health including Health Experts, Health Researchers and Heads of Health Training Institutions from the Member States of ECSA Health Community, as well as diverse Collaborating Partners in the region and beyond. The aim will be to reflect back on the 40 years of ECSA Health Community existence and contribution in the region.

The discussions during this conference will address five thematic areas:

  1. Universal Health Coverage
  1. Innovations in the Development of Human Resources for Health
  1. MDGs Lessons for Post 2015 Agenda
  1. Control of communicable diseases
  1. Prevention and Management of NCDs

The Ministers in this meeting will define the region’s course of course of action and advise on the direction the ECSA Health Community and Countries will pay more attention to improvement of health service delivery. The Health Ministers Conference is the highest governing body of the ECSA Health Community. During this meeting the Ministers will come up with resolutions that will guide programming of health interventions for ECSA Health Community member states in the coming year.
