This symposium, jointly organized by the EDCTP and the Wellcome Trust, focuses on the practical challenges faced and lessons learned by researchers and ethics committee members working in this field. Presentations will outline the main issues experienced by them in their role as a clinical triallist or member of an ethics committee. The symposium will include a final discussion session to summarize recommendations on how to achieve ethical research and best practice in conducting trials in disease-endemic, LMICs. The symposium should be of interest to individuals and organisations involved in clinical trials and clinical research in LMICs.
