At TBScience2018, researchers from the fields of microbiology, immunology, molecular biology, pharmacology, epidemiology and mathematical modelling will present and discuss recent findings on TB transmission, infection and disease.

Additional focus will be on the development of better vaccines, drugs and diagnostics for TB, and methodological challenges to determining the burden of TB disease at the subnational level.

The programme consists of a morning plenary session on ‘TB treatment shortening’. In the afternoon, three parallel sessions are dedicated to, respectively, ‘Reducing transmission’, ‘TB vaccine developments’, and ‘Production and use of surveillance data’. The final plenary session on ‘M. tuberculosis infection: acquisition, control and clearance’ will take place in the morning of 24 October.

Dr Ole Olesen (EDCTP Director of International Cooperation for Europe) will co-chair Parallel session 1 and join parallel session 2 for its final panel. The panel will discuss ‘What does the TB vaccine field need to do now?’
