2026 Calls for proposals
EDCTP Association as Coordinator of Global Health EDCTP3 projects
The Global Health EDCTP3 Work Programme 2026 includes two calls for Coordination & Support Actions (CSA) based on Lump Sum Funding:
- HORIZON-JU-GH-EDCTP3-2026-03-DIGIT-02 Enhancing integrated research and healthcare in sub-Saharan Africa through digital innovation and Artificial Intelligence
- HORIZON-JU-GH-EDCTP3-2026-03-SERP-01 Training and innovation networks for sustained capacity development related to ethics, regulatory, pharmacovigilance, and related digital regulatory platforms
For consortia that would like to include the EDCTP Association as coordinator of the proposal, please follow these steps:
- Inform the EDCTP Association
- Scientific Project Leader to inform the EDCTP Association by sending an email to csacoordinator@edctp.org to notify of intention to submit a proposal
- Include the acronym of consortium and the individual call topic code HORIZON-JU-GH-EDCTP3-2026-03-DIGIT-02 or HORIZON-JU-GH-EDCTP3-2026-03-SERP-01 in the subject line of the email
- Provide the following information for each of the proposed consortium members
- Legal entity name and PIC number
- Country of legal entity
- Name and email of the consortium members representing the legal entities in the proposal (one person/legal entity only)
- EDCTP Association will acknowledge receipt of your email
- EDCTP Association will contact the Scientific Project Leader directly to agree on the next steps of proposal preparation
- The eligible costs of the EDCTP Association in the actions funded under the CSA topics will not be reimbursed by the Global Health EDCTP3 Joint Undertaking and may be used as a basis for in-kind contributions to operational activities (IKOP). The in-kind contribution of the EDCTP Association will cover the coordination activities of the project. The EDCTP Association will provide the estimated amount of the Association’s contribution as well as any other relevant information.
Deadlines for proposals where the Association will act as the Coordinator
Please take note of the following deadlines:
- Consortia to provide draft finalised proposals to EDCTP Association by 17:00 CET on Monday 3 August 2026.
- EDCTP Association will check that the proposal complies with the admissibility and eligibility requirements of the call and will check the lump sum budget
- Feedback will be provided to the Scientific Project Leader of the proposal
- EDCTP Association will submit the eligible and admissible proposals in advance of the call deadline of 2 September 2026.
The EDCTP Association will not be held responsible for incomplete proposals or proposals submitted late.
Role of EDCTP Association as Coordinator:
During grant preparation and once the grant is awarded, the EDCTP Association will:
- Act as the intermediary for all communications between the consortium and the Global Health EDCTP3 Joint Undertaking. This will be done in collaboration with the Scientific Project Leader of the consortium
- Distribute payments received from the Global Health EDCTP3 Joint Undertaking to consortium beneficiaries without unjustified delay.
- Submit deliverables and reports to Global Health EDCTP3.
- Together with the Scientific Project Leader, ensure effective coordination of the funded networks.
Scientific Project Leader
For the CSA proposals, the EDCTP Association will work with the designated scientific project leader established in an SSA country member of the EDCTP Association, with the roles described below.
The scientific project leader is responsible for overseeing the project’s scientific governance and leadership. To this end, proposals must include a work package outlining the details of scientific project leadership.
The scientific project leader should indicatively perform the following tasks:
- During the call for proposals and selection process, coordinate meetings and contribute to drafting the full project proposal.
- Collaborate with the coordinator and other beneficiaries on drafting and negotiating the consortium agreement and other legal agreements among beneficiaries.
- Act as the primary contact point for the Global Health EDCTP3 JU regarding all scientific action governance issues, steer and provide oversight in the development of scientific actions, without prejudice to the tasks entrusted directly to the coordinator as per the Model Grant Agreement.
- Support and collaborate with the coordinator on monitoring activities and the adoption of appropriate internal measures to ensure beneficiaries meet their obligations regarding budget, timeline, deliverables, and scientific quality.
- Review the action’s deliverables and reports before their submission by the coordinator.
- Lead the work package(s) related to scientific project leadership tasks.
Annex 1 to the grant agreement and the consortium agreement should address the relationship between the scientific project leader and the coordinator regarding their respective responsibilities, such as sharing information received from or sent to Global Health EDCTP3 on all issues of interest for the proper scientific management of the action.
